Metropolis tops off the glamour at Fendi’s new fashion house

Aliva UK’s stylish Metropolis custom effect range was chosen to complement the stylish and stunningly designed New Bond Street showroom of Fendi, the Italian luxury fashion house.

Fendi has the reputation of being a brand that exudes elegance and sophistication, consistently delivering cutting edge incongruous fashion, with designs that never fail to exceed expectations. It was critical that its new flagship store was designed and decorated in a manner that upheld that image.

One of the ceilings of the tastefully designed and decorated store has been adorned with Aliva UK’s Metropolis custom effect range. It was created by applying two coats of acrylic based plaster with a fine trowel, aptly named the Metropolis factor, which was given a dragged effect using a comb like tool. After it had dried the plaster was painted with two coats of Metropolis Mida Gold, which created a rich gold leaf effect which, whilst matching the gold carpet, gives the room stunning golden urban tones.

Aliva UK’s Metropolis range was selected by contractor P3 Pavilion Coatings because Aliva was able to perfectly match an effect that had been created on the ceiling of the Fendi store in Paris.

Aliva’s Tom Kitchener explains, “Every care is given to ensure that the application of the ceiling and presentation to the Metropolis standard is of the highest level possible. The Fendi project was undertaken by two London artists, who were specially selected and sponsored by Aliva to travel to Italy to be taught the specialist skill by experts.”

Fendi celebrated the opening of its new store with a party that grabbed headlines and was attended by a who’s who of London fashion and celebrity “A listers”, including Karl Lagerfeld who designed the iconic Fendi “FF” logo, which remains one of the most iconic status symbols within the fashion arena since the 1960s.
