Product Alucovering Piana F – Multiple Finishes

The brief

To replicate the striking finish used at Microsoft’s celebrated European HQ in Dublin – another Aliva project – on a new and dedicated oncology department in Cork. Part of Cork University Hospital, the new €40m Glandore Centre comprises seven radiotherapy treatment rooms, a diagnostic imaging suite, as well as consultation and examination facilities.

What we did

To complement the grey limestone used elsewhere on the 8,800m2 building, Aliva designed, manufactured and supplied its recognisable Alucovering system, all in less than 10 weeks. The building comprised three separate facades, with a total surface area of 1,400sqm. Two would be completely covered in cladding, while one would also feature stone. To add texture and variety across such large surfaces, Aliva supplied its Alucovering Piana F system in a range of grey finishes; ranging from standard to polished, brushed and even etched. This ‘jigsaw’ effect produced a unique end product, to help the Glandore Centre stand out for years to come. Despite changes to the design of the concrete backing structures during our design phase, Aliva’s programme was delivered on time and on budget to another extremely satisfied client.

What makes it special

This was Aliva’s first Irish project outside Dublin and one of its largest aluminium installations to date.
